Hurricane Sandy Volunteer Opportunity
Volunteer field contacts are needed to assist with phone calls following up with residents who were affected by Hurricane Sandy.  Volunteers will perform interviews, take work orders, and make referral appointments.  Training will be provided.  If you are interested in this job please call Marisa at 201-446-8585 or email msantiago@bergenvolunteers.org.

American Cancer Society, George Washington Bridge Challenge, Sunday, June 9, is looking for volunteers for many volunteer opportunities.  Volunteers are needed to assist with registration, parking, Res Stop Support, Post Race Food Service, and work as Hole Sitters.  Volunteers interested in learning more can contact Melissa at 201-457-3418, ext. 2216.

Adler Aphasia Center, Maywood, is looking for volunteers in two positions.  Two volunteers are needed to work as Technology support volunteers, minimum age 25.  Volunteers will be needed to offer technical support for hardware, software and overall systems used at Adler.  Volunteer must have the ability to delegate tasks and  communicate.  Please call Ava at 201-368-8585 to learn more or to sign up.

Volunteers are also needed at Adler to work as Technology Lab Partners.  Lab partners will use computers and/or iPads with specially designed software application programs which are intended to help members stimulate their speech. Jewish Family Service is looking for volunteer Friendly Visitors in Bergen and North Hudson County.  Volunteers will provide socialization to homebound and isolated clients through regular home visits.  Please call Jeff at 201-837-9090, ext. 238 to find out more.

Spectrum for Living, an organization that impacts the lives of adults with developmental disabilities, is in need of “On Call” Volunteers.  Opportunities will include assisting with mailings, attending community events to sell raffle tickets, and helping at annual events (Golf Classic, Walks, Galas, etc.).  Most opportunities will be at the River Vale, NJ headquarters and locations throughout Bergen County.  Scheduling for these opportunities is flexible.  For more information, please contact Marie Hacker at 201-358-1685.

ECLC of NJ, Paramus,  is looking for Activity Coordinators for Special Needs Adults.  Volunteers will assist clients as needed during activities such as sports, music shows, trivia games, etc.  Please call Mary Lou Dawson at 973-635-1705, ext. 29 to volunteer.


North Jersey Friendship House is looking for volunteers for three upcoming projects.  Their 7th annual Wellness for Mental Health & Autism Walk is looking for volunteers to help with set up and clean up at the event on May 19 from 8:30am - 2:00pm.  The event is held at Olsen Park in Bogota.  Contact Kathy English at 201-488-2121 for more details.

Friendship House is also looking for a few volunteers to assist with the Walk prep.  Volunteers will call donors, collect raffle prizes, and set up games and food. 

Lastly Friendship House is looking for volunteers to assist with data entry and system testing of electronic health records. The position will be held now through June 10.  Volunteers 18 and older can call Kathy English at 201-488-2121 to sign up.
